Compared to last week: There were too few comparable sales on steer calves to state a market trend but a good turn out of feeder steers coming off short grass gave a better picture. Most 800-900 lb. steers sold mostly 15.00 lower. Heifer calves also had too few comparable sales for a trend but a decidedly lower undertone was noted. Feeder heifers weighing 780 lbs. brought 12.00 lower while 800-850 lb. heifers brought 9.00 lower. Average to high yielding slaughter cows were steady to 5.00 lower. Dry cows and cull bulls continue to come in off droughty country. There's been a few showers around but nothing to change the pattern. High temperatures also continue to dominate the foreseeable forecast as the whole state keeps looking for a relief to the long summer. However; trade was active with good demand in spite of a lower board and recent news reports.
